Support Group Network

Amputee support groups provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals living with limb loss or limb difference as well as their family members. With over 400 support groups registered with the Amputee Coalition, individuals with limb loss or limb difference and their families across the country are receiving the vital support to help them along their journey.

Trauma Survivors Network

We are a community of patients and survivors looking to connect with one another and rebuild their lives after a serious injury. The underlying goal of our resources and programs is to ensure the survivors of trauma a stable recovery and to connect those who share similar stories.

Events

Camp No Limits

No Limits Foundation is a non-profit organization 501 (c)(3) providing camps for children with limb loss and differences. The camp aims to provide education, mentorship, and support to these children and their families. Camp No Limits fosters a welcoming and supportive community in the hopes of helping all those who attend the camp.

Adventure Amputee Camp

The mission of the Adventure Amputee Camp is to encourage children with amputations or limb differences to stretch their potential and imagination, and explore all that is possible. Summer camp in North Carolina and Winter Camp in Virginia

BAKA Bootcamp

This challenging and rewarding event helps to strengthen the daily activity and abilities of bilateral above-knee limb loss participants while providing peer support opportunities.

Veterans

Gary Sinise Foundation

At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.

Wounded Warrior Project

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began in 2003 as a small, grassroots effort providing simple care and comfort items to the hospital bedsides of the first wounded service members returning home from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As their post-service needs evolved, so have our programs and services. Today, through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.

The Independence Fund

Founded in 2007, The Independence Fund is committed to serving the Warfighter Community by providing innovative programs and services to support the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual independence of our servicemembers, combat Veterans, their Caregivers, families, and those Allies who served in combat alongside our troops, through innovative mobility and adaptive technologies and therapies for combat Veterans; suicide prevention; caregiver and family support; and Veteran advocacy with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, other government agencies, federal and state legislators, and other partners.

Inner Wheel USA

The Inner Wheel U.S.A. Foundation, Inc., provides myoelectric prosthesis to children born without or lost an arm or hand through disease or accident

Shriners Hospital

provides free orthopedic care to children under the age of 18 if there is a reasonable possibility that the child’s condition can be helped

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Children may receive prosthetic care at St. Jude in conjunction with treatment of a catastrophic illness such as Osteosarcoma. Acceptance for treatment is based solely on a patient’s eligibility for an ongoing clinical trial at the hospital.

Sports and Recreation

Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF)

Offers support through grants, camps/clinics and mentorship through their communities. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life.

Footprints Adventures - Adaptive Travel Programs

Footprints Adventures provides adaptive adventure travel for individuals with limb difference and amputations. Have an adventure like never before. Challenge yourself, accomplish new goals and travel to great places; while camping under the stars with peers. 

National Amputee Golf Association

Today, NAGA has more than 2,000 members in the US and 200 members from 17 other countries across the globe. In addition to the annual National Amputee Golf Tournament and National Amputee Senior Championship, NAGA sponsors many local and regional tournaments throughout the country. Perhaps NAGA’s highest visibility occurs because of the First Swing Program, which teaches adaptive golf to people with physical disabilities. Currently, more than 30 clinics are held across the country every year.

Yoga for Amputees

The mission of Y4A: Yoga for Amputees by Marsha T Danzig is to provide health, wellness, freedom of movement, psychological healing and spiritual renewal to amputees by offering yoga education, training, and research, creating a global network of yoga teachers, yoga therapists, yoga enthusiasts and professionals working with amputees, so that amputees can thrive, from moment of limb loss to the rest of their lives.

Ways to Give Back

A Leg to Stand On (ALTSO)

Provides free prosthetic limbs, orthotic braces, and appropriately fitted wheelchairs to children around the world who are living with limb disabilities.

Limbs For Life

Collects used prosthetics and prosthetic componentry, plus unused socks for liners, as part of the World Limb Bank. 

Penta Prosthetics

Penta is the logistical bridge between the supply of used and discarded limbs in the US and the incredible need for these devices in low-and middle-income countries. Penta repurposes these prosthetic devices and empowers amputees with physical, economic, and social mobility in underserved areas.
